Practice Highlights:

Lou heads the bankruptcy practice at Kaempfer Crowell in Las Vegas and Reno. He and the firm represent secured and unsecured creditors, creditor committees, trustees, purchasers and defendants in estate litigation. He routinely advises businesses, banks and government entities on how to protect themselves and maximize their return in commercial disputes.

Business bankruptcy is the touchstone for his practice, both with reorganizing and liquidating companies. He also is regularly involved in litigation, receiverships, and tax disputes. His clients include individual, private, and commercial lenders, banks and credit unions, landlords, vendors, insurance companies and investors. He often advises clients on risk assessment before and after bankruptcy, including topics such as accounts receivable, collection efforts, collateral, and guarantor obligations. Lou regularly appears in Nevada’s state and federal district, bankruptcy and appellate courts. His work also has taken him to Alabama, Arizona, California, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Community:

Lou is an outdoors advocate, supporting the amazing public lands in Nevada. He is on the board of directors for Friends of Nevada Wilderness, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to protecting present and potential wilderness within the state. He has won multiple Blue Helmet awards from Friends over the years for his extensive time volunteering on service projects in wilderness around the state. He also is on the board of directors of the Nevada Outdoor Business Coalition, another 501(c)(3) entity designed to advocate for the industries and policies that benefit from outdoor recreation on Nevada’s public lands. He volunteered with the coalition that successfully advocated for the presidential proclamation of the Avi Kwa Ame National Monument in Nevada in 2023.
